COACHING

There are times when an individual needs to be provided with fresh insight and understanding on how to improve their effectiveness. As an external coach, I can work with the individual to examine their approach and style, identify how to maximise on current strengths and work on their development needs. Psychometric assessments can be used alongside action planning techniques to focus the individual and help them understand the behaviours that aren’t working and establish alternative, more effective, techniques and habits.

I work within the code of practice of the British Psychological Society and European Mentoring and Coaching Council, and am member of the British Psychological Society’s Special Group in Coaching Psychology.  I am CIPD qualified.

Coaching programmes might include:

  • Assessment and feedback: to provide an objective evaluation of coaching aims, and to provide feedback through thoughtful discussion with the coachee of what the results are, what they mean, and what they do not mean.
  • Forward planning: part of the first session might involve clarification of goals, strategies, and behaviours (for example, against a competency profile).
  • Subsequent sessions: focus on the goals of the coachee and the facilitation of development/change, whether cognitive, emotional or behavioural.  Each coaching session is followed up within three days with coaching notes and follow-up actions.
  • Evaluation: through creative and unobtrusive methodologies, such as distance travelled measures (numerical and/or metaphorical representation of developmental progress)

Coaching is most effective when delivered face to face, however online coaching is offered if appropriate.
