Pioneering research on HIV recognized, Michael H. Malim 2010 Retrovirology Prize

Receiving the award, Professor Malim said: ‘To win the prize Retrovirology is very flattering indeed, and is a great honor to be on the list of celebrities who have already received this award.’To celebrate the award, an interview with Professor Malim discussing his career and research have been published in BioMed Central’s open access journal Retrovirology.

Professor Michael H. Malim, Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases at King College London, was announced as the recipient of the 2010 M Jeang Retrovirology Prize. The prize is awarded annually and is partly funded by the Foundation Ming K. Jeang, recognizes leading-edge research from retrovirologists aged 45-60.

Associate Editor of Retrovirology, Aribert Fassati explained why they chose Dr Malim as the winner of 2010. ‘Professor Malim made key scientific contributions to understanding the replication of HIV-1, which also illuminated new fundamental biological processes.’
